Tiger Studios Newsletter: July 2009 IssueIn case you have not been on my site lately, I compeletly redesigned in May. I hope you like it. It has been way too long since the last redesign. The new design is opposite of what you have seen over the last few years so check it out.
Thanks! Animation Usage Suggestions For Your Web SiteIt's nice to have animation on a web site, whether Flash or animated GIF, as long as it makes sense to the overall message of the site. A professional web site designer can help the site owner to develop an animation that makes sense for the business and the web site. If you decide to design the site yourself, be choosy about what animations you add. Why? Placing multiple animations on a page becomes distracting and can irritate customers. So when do you say enough to the amount of animations on one web site page? When To Use AnimationUse animation where it seems appropriate and not because you think you need it. If you are going to have advertising on your site, and some of those ads will be animated, then maybe you need to rethink that animation that takes up a third of the web page. If you are an architect or building developer, a rotating animation of recent projects or buildings might be a good idea. Instead of listing a bunch of small project images the potential client can't make out well you can take that space and enlarge the images while you cycle through them. Don't Use Irritating AnimationSome animation should never be used just because of it's irritation factor. Don't use violently flashing text to get a customer's attention or animated banners or figures that say the same message over and over again. These animations could drive your customers away and if you drive them away they may not come back to hire you or buy your products. Caution On All Animation Web SitesAll Flash web sites are still not fully search engine friendly. Until the search engines evolve more and can accurately scan the content of your Flash animation I would leave this option alone. Consider using a mixture of HTML content with Flash animation to achieve the same goal.
