Tiger Studios Newsletter: May/June 2008 IssueNothing pithy to say this month. Just glad the temperature is warming up, the days are longer, and the sun is shining.
Happy Soon To Be Summer! Using Animation in Email Marketing CampaignsOn occasion, I get asked by clients if an animation can be added to their email marketing blast. The answer is yes but there are a few questions you should ask yourself before you do add animation. Is It Necessary?Does the animation make sense to have or is it just to make it look cool? If you are sending out marketing material just to look cool you could miss your opportunity with potential clients. Don't have animation for the sake of animation. Make sure there is a point to it. What Kind of Animation?Keep the animations as animated GIFs. Don't use Flash — leave that for web sites. Be conscious that these files are being downloaded for the potential client to see, so keep the file size small. How Many Animations? If you have to have animation, keep it to one and make sure it has an impact on the message. Don't run it too fast, make sure that the message can easily be read, and that the quality of the graphics are good. Keeping those things in mind, you can create an original and effective marketing email.
