APRIL 2006

The Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Center (RMWCC) gives sanctuary to 150 large cats, bears and wolves and is located in Keensberg, Colorado which is only 30 miles from Denver. I visited the Sanctuary last Saturday and was blown away by how large the facility is. 60+ acres with more room to grow.

On Mother's Day, May 13th at 2pm, they are hosting a premiere party for an Animal Planet show called "Growing Up Leopard." This show is about Eddy a black leopard who was born at RMWCC. If you and your family are interested in attending this free premiere party you can visit the RMWCC web site.

The Web Site Testing Process

Thanks to working several years within a large government web team I learned in the beginning of my web design and development career how to test a site before it goes live. Although I no longer test my sites with images and Javascript turned off, I still go through a regular testing process.

Because my office runs on a Macintosh, I make sure I have Virtual PC installed so that all sites can be tested on a Windows platform. Standard testing includes both the Mac and PC platforms. On each platform I check the site using Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigation. While building the site I use the FireFox browser.

You would be surprised how different a site can look not just across platforms, but across IE and Netscape as well. Font sizes can be considerably bigger, or a layout that works in one browser may "explode" in another. Certain elements within Cascading Style Sheets may or may not work across the browsers.

If you are building your own site, or even adding content to your existing site, you might want to check how it looks in both major browsers. If your site and content look good in IE and Netscape then chances are your site will also look good in any number of lesser used browsers.
