MARCH 2006

If you have not noticed yet, I recently redesigned the Tiger Studios web site. It is definitely a departure for me in my own site design, as you will see below. For the first time this is not a design driven web site but a content driven one. Guess all of that SEO work is starting to really affect me. I hope you like the new design.

Enjoy!

Tiger-Studios.com — Boy, Has This Site Evolved

When you get this newsletter the brand new 2006 Tiger Studios web site will be up and running. While I was working on the new design I thought about how many redesigns the site has gone through since the start of the business. As you will see by the screen captures below my design style has definitely changed since 1999. After looking at all of the designs it is interesting to see how some themes left and others stayed from the beginning.

1999 - 2000

Some of you might remember this site. The site was mainly a show case of my design talent. Very little text on the home page and a fun rollover trick with the logo and navigation. This was before Flash. When I first started out in this business I just used my name and the monitor on an easel was my logo.

This was the year of the new and official Tiger Studios name and logo. With black, white and ice blue being the corporate colors I went into a blue faze with this design. More text driven than the previous site, it starts to evolve into a more business look and feel. Even if the navigation is on the right. A simple javascript animation at the bottom showcased some black and white photos I had taken.

Still using ice blue as the main color for the site, we see the first appearance of the fern theme (to go with the tiger and jungles) at the top of the pages. Site is getting bigger with more content, and a new addition of a What's New section on the home page highlighting web sites that I recently completed.

2003 -2004

I guess I got tired of blue because I did a one-eighty and went red with this design. Sometimes a redesign of the Tiger Studios site happens because I am inspired by another design and that is definitely what happened here. The content organization was tricky because if I put to much text in one area it would blow the whole design layout. This is the first time that a Flash animation is introduced on the site. Very graphic heavy home page compared to past years.

2005

More of a balance of graphics and text with this design. I was also heavily influenced by search engine optimization marketing techniques with this site. Landing pages for design and development were set up from lead in text on the home page. No Flash animation on this design, but every time a user looked at the home page the main graphic would change.

2006

A highly content drive web site with a liberal use of white open space. I previous years I had updatable content on the home page but this is the first design that highlights the newsletter, which will be updated monthly when it goes out. I have also highlighted the 3 main business areas of the company with their own landing pages: web design, web development and graphic design. See the new site!
